Indie Downloads (“we”, “us”) is a marketplace where fans buy music directly from independent artists and labels. It is operated by Urban City Entertainment LLC. This policy explains what information we collect on indiedownloads.com and in the Indie Downloads app, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Short version: we collect what we need to run your account and process sales. We never sell your personal information and we don’t show ads. When you buy music, the artist you bought from can see your name, email and city so they know who their fans are. They can only email you about new releases if you opt in.

Information we collect

Account information: your name, email address and password when you create an account. Passwords are stored only as a secure one-way hash, never in plain text.
Artist and label profiles: if you sell music, your artist or label name, genre, city, bio, social media links, and the music, cover art, release details, UPC and ISRC codes you upload.
Purchases: what you bought, the price paid, the date, and the name, email and billing address (city, state, ZIP/postal code and country) you enter at checkout.
Payment details: card payments are handled by our payment processor, Stripe, on its secure checkout page. Your full card number never reaches our servers. Charges appear on statements as REGAL BUSINESS AGENCY.
Artist payout details: artists who set up payouts give their identity and bank details directly to Stripe. We only receive whether payouts are set up.
Technical information: a single sign-in cookie that keeps you logged in for up to 7 days, and standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) used for security and troubleshooting.

How we use it

To create and secure your account and let you sign in.
To process purchases, deliver your downloads, handle refunds and pay artists their share of each sale.
To show artists and labels their sales, customers and fan cities in their dashboard.
To report sales to music-industry charting and certification services using UPC/ISRC codes and ZIP codes (no names or emails are included in those reports).
To prevent fraud, enforce our terms and handle copyright claims.
To send you emails about your account and purchases, and, only if you opted in at checkout, news from the artist you bought from.

Who we share it with

The artist or label you buy from: your name, email, city and purchase history with them.
Service providers that run the service for us: Stripe (payments and payouts), Vercel (website hosting), Neon (database), Cloudflare (file storage) and our email provider. They may only use your information to provide their services to us.
Legal reasons: if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users, artists or the public.
Business transfers: if Indie Downloads is merged or sold, your information may transfer to the new owner under this policy.

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use third-party advertising or ad tracking.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information while your account is open. Purchase and payout records are kept for up to 7 years because we need them for taxes, accounting, refunds and sales reporting. Server logs are kept for a short period for security.

Your choices and rights

You can update your artist profile and social links in your dashboard.
You can unsubscribe from artist emails at any time using the link in the email.
You can ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, or delete your account.

Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU/UK), you may have additional rights under local law. Contact us to use them; we won’t treat you differently for doing so.

Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, private download links that expire after a few minutes, and role checks on every staff and artist page. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

Children

Indie Downloads is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. You must be at least 18, or have a parent or guardian’s permission, to make purchases or sell music. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy. We will change the date at the top, and for significant changes we will notify account holders by email or on the site.
